SVA Celebrates 40 Years of Graphic Design

School is in session. Each Wednesday, I continue my education studying screenwriting at the School of Visual Arts. Having attended college upstate New York, the experience is incredibly different with so much of the the city’s culture reflected in the school’s aesthetic, compared to commuting in the sticks to get your learn on.

At SVA this fall, SVA explores the integration of graphic design in everyday life through a new exhibit called “The Wilde Years: Four Decades of Shaping Visual Culture”. The 3-D installation designed by Kevin O’Callaghan uses mixed media through a collection of magazine covers, album cover art, even mock subway platforms recreated with memorable advertisements from Broadway plays. Here’s a preview of the exhibit (on display at the Visual Arts Gallery, 601 West 26th Street, 15th floor) below.
